Location: Yorkshire and the Humber
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000
About the Role
We are delighted to represent our client, a leading renewable energy solutions provider committed to delivering sustainable energy systems across the residential, commercial and industrial sectors. They are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Solar PV Design Engineer to join their expanding Design & Engineering team. This is a technical, fast-paced role, ideally suited to candidates with a passion for renewable energy and strong design and analytical abilities.
Key Responsibilities

Design and develop solar PV systems using specialist design software (e.g. PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope).

Produce detailed engineering drawings, schematics, layouts and bills of materials for residential, commercial and utility-scale projects.

Carry out site assessments, analyse solar resource data, conduct shading analyses and optimise system performance.

Collaborate with project managers, installation teams and clients to ensure designs meet technical and regulatory requirements.

Stay up to date with relevant codes, standards and industry best practice (e.g. NEC, IEC, MCS, NABCEP guidelines).

Provide technical support during the installation, commissioning, and handover phases.

Ensure all designs comply with planning regulations, grid connection requirements and health & safety legislation.
Key Requirements

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).

Minimum 2 years’ experience in solar PV system design.

Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, PVSYST, Helioscope or similar.

Strong understanding of electrical systems, grid connections and PV system integration.

Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving and analytical skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

NABCEP certification (desirable but not essential).
